Our Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for someone who is high energy, and interested in helping us develop our vision program as part of our comprehensive model of care. This is a hugely popular service for our community. The optometrist provides diagnostic exams, treatment, prescribe and fit eyeglasses, and provides pre and post-op care. You also participate in interdisciplinary QA activities along with a team of medical, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and social service providers.

We are looking for an optometrist who is mission-oriented, interested in team-based care, and shares a sense of compassion for the underserved.

Day to Day:

  • Render comprehensive optical services to clinic patients in accordance with the standards established by the applicable Canons of professional ethics and the standard of care prevailing in the community. (Is this true for Optometrist as well as physician)
  • Provide optical services within the clinic setting including, eye exams, treatment of conditions such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lens.
  • Provide low vision aids and vision therapy.
  • Diagnose eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and conjunctivitis.
  • Participate in pre- or post- operative care for people who need surgery.
  • Provide services in accordance with clinic policies and insurance regulations.
  • Perform timely and accurate medical record documentation, including dictation, using forms and formats developed as clinic policy.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings and quality assurance activities as directed.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and peer review as requested.
  • Maintain organized, clean, efficient and confidential work area.
  • Represent YNHS in local meetings as requested.
  • Other items as specified in provider contract.
  • Perform related work or other tasks as requested.
